Writing invalidation levels you will actually honour
Many rule sheets look strict until you notice the invalidation level sits inside the old range — where ordinary noise will tag it constantly.
Outside the structure
For a breakout above a consolidation, invalidation usually belongs back below the broken boundary or below a defined retest low — not at the midpoint of the former rectangle. The exact placement is yours to write; the principle is that ordinary range oscillation should not “invalidate” a trade that was never meant to live inside the old box.
Saying it aloud
In private reviews we ask students to read their invalidation sentence out loud. If it sounds like a hope rather than a condition, we rewrite it before the session ends.
Mild discomfort is useful
Honouring a clean invalidation feels worse in the moment than moving the line. That discomfort is part of the craft. The intensive treats it as a skill to rehearse, not a personality flaw to hide.
